My daughter turned 21 on Friday, so I set out to make her a pretty pink cake. I made a strawberry 4 layer cake with a swiss buttercream frosting. both recipes I found at smittenkitchen.com. I filled the layers with fresh fruit (strawberries, raspberries & bananas, her faves) and whipped cream.

I added pink gel food coloring to make it Super pink

in it's naked 4 layer beauty (excuse messy kitchen background)

crumb coated (next time I won't crumb coat with the precious swiss buttercream, I had to make 3 batches

it's been about 3 or four years since I tried a basket weave and it shows. the decorations are in homemade marshmallow fondant.

this is my little birthday girl (she doesn't mind that I call her my little girl or baby. she's a total mommy's girl)

the feedback I got from her & her friends, and I'm quoting here "this cake is kill-tacular!". I couldn't ask for more =)
Thanks for looking & comments welcome!

yay! thanks everyone for the great responses. it really was a very good strawberry cake recipe. pretty dense to withstand the stacking, but doesn't taste heavy at all.
thanks again!!!
