my 5 years old daughter has discovered the wonderful world of dinosaurs... and I discovered the not so marvellous world of plastic dinosaurs laying everywhere at home....Tonight, I decided to counter attack... I waited for the lil monster to sleep to grab a black pen and a piece of paper.... and I created my own 2d dinosaur breed: the cutosaurus ( gentilosaure in french). Then I decided that such a cutie didn't need a camouflage, but some bright bubbles... 5 minutes later, I drew his eyes with my black sharpie and there you go!! A dinosaur is born!!

So here is my cutosaurus:

and in all his glory, laying peacefully on my desk:

My daughter would tell you that it's a titanosaurus kind of dinosaur.... I say it's a some-kindness-in-a-rude-world kind of dinosaure...
You are more than welcome to make your own, I set the pattern as a freebie on my blog!!
if you do make one ( or two, or more, they are so easy and quick to make!) please send me a pic or a link!

edit: a new one came to life tonight.... LilOne wanted a stegosaurus... I made that:

she loved it !! Now I am really thinking about going 3d.....
Pattern is a freebie on my blog Wink

LilOne had a severe asthma crisis last week end... She had to be hospitalized a couple of days. She is fine now. Thing is... no more plushees in her bedroom till we know what happened... I also ran to the craft store to buy some filling that wouldn't hurt her... Anyway.... to celebrate her come back, I asked her what she wanted.... her answer was clear and simple: another cutosaur, but a stegosaurus this time.... I did my best, ending with something that was everything but scary... i think I don't know how to draw a scary dinosaur.... mine are only.... cute....

Anyway, we spent some time together making this one coming to life.... she loved it and is sleeping peacefully with it next to her right now... there wil lbe more to come, as she asked for babies, and eggs.....

My son loves Team Umizoomi on Nick Jr. and his favorite episode is the Dinosaur Museum. Once I came across your post on this cute dino's I knew I had to make a couple for him. I grabbed the kid fabric out and he choose the "long neck" dino. About 20 minutes later, he was totally thrilled with them.

Just in time to take with him when he goes for a "recharge" (nap). Thanks for sharing the template. Very easy also. I will be making more for the neighbor kids as they love dino's too.
