I haven't had much time to sew with my new little princess around, but I have been obsessed with making her sunhats...and you can make one in a nap's worth of time!
I saw a bunch at Target that were adorable, but they were $7. No way, said I, we can make all of these with stash fabric for free - and soon my little love will have a hat to go with every outfit!

I used these two tutes:
http://blog.craftzine.com/archive/2009/07/how-to_sew_a_reversible_sun_ha.html
http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/baby-sun-hat.html

I didn't have any gadget to draw a circle, so I've been using plates and it seems to be working great...until her head grows!

I also made the green blankie in all the pics - crocheted in 20 hours of labor!

Here they are, modeled by the lovely Charlotte:

This was made from a table runner from our wedding Smiley

This one is still a bit big, so we have to wear it Blossom-style

BTW...you can use a piece of string and 2 pencils to draw a circle.  Wink

Gorgeous photos! Your baby is adorable, and looks so good in her new hats. I especially like the first one, it's a very pretty fabric. Making hats is a very useful skill, they get lost so easily!

I didn't. I wanted a wider brim and a smaller hat so I just drew my own pattern piece based loosely on those measurements. The cool thing about the hat is that it whips up so quickly I can tweak the pattern piece every time. When I make it again I am going to make the hat shorter.
