Dish towels - easy as 1-2-3 (now with tutorial)

I'm having a problem with them being kind of wonky, not exactly square, and the fabric doesn't want to be ironed out.  I'm thinking I probably need to wash them, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem?

I bought a pack of white towels called 'flour sacks' from WalMart. They're really thin and very 'wonky'- I didn't know this when I got them, but I made the most of it. You can see a pic of mine earlier in this thread.  I just made the best of it

Great idea! I love to sew, but for the life of me I can't sew a straight line. LOL. It would probably show on a project like this.

When I first started learning I would always draw a straight line with chalk, using a ruler, and then I would sew over the line. It's a good way to sew straight lines, have you ever tried?

I really need more dishtowels in my kitchen and abthrooms. I think I'll try repurposing some older white bath towels and whipe some of these up. =)
