Okay, now for the explaination of monkey straws. At the beginning of February my boyfriend and I went to his coworker's wedding. She is also one of those "we hang out with outside of work friends." Aka, we like her Smiley

On her wedding registry she wanted the silver monkey straw from Tiffany's http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/item.aspx?sku=14560963&search_params=t+straw-s+0-p+1-l+-h+-c+-r+-x

A little ridiculous, I know, but she actually wanted it.

Not that surprisingly, she didn't get it. Sad

It's her birthday this weekend so my boyfriend and I created these so that she can now go on with her life because she has not just one, but 4 monkey straws!!

We fully expect her to pull them out when we come to visit Tongue

We had a heck of a time finding a barrel of monkeys AND curly straws! FYI: found the monkeys at Toys R Us and the straws came from Walmart (I try not to buy things from there, but we scoured the city!)

Here's the "tutorial" if you can call it that:

Use hot (but not too hot) glue gun to glue monkeys to straws. And you're done! lol

She loved them and immediately knew that they were MONKEY STRAWS!

p.s. There are a few more pics on my blog if you're interested!

First off 195 bucks for a straw  Shocked I would feel terrible spending that much on something that wasnt of any use an wasnt any type of jewlrey or etc. Makes no sence to me. Plus I would feel silly buying it for someone even IF it was something they REALLY wanted.

Second..those straws are cool! I have monkeys and a bunch of those cool straws I just may have to make some of those for my kids or with my girlscout troop.

The original is something I would buy at an estate sale or some such.  I think most peeps on this site would not spend the REAL money for it heheheh.  Even if I won the lotto it is too much for a straw!!

I don't know why on earth someone would want to pay a fortune for a SILVER straw! Jeeeeeeez... No additional comment, I'll make myself cranky...

As for the monkey straws, before I even started reading your tale, I was laughing! I always thought curly straws were sooooo much fun, but those are AWESOME!

These are awesome!  This will make my kids AND my straw-using husband happy!
He's been wanting some new straws, too!
Hopefully, this will also rid me of stepping on the occasional stray monkey.  Smiley

Also, I wish I had the kind of money where $195 for a sterling silver straw seemed reasonable. But then, I'd probably be Oprah. "You don't know how great they are, until you get one. Buy one TODAY!"

I love crazy straws since I was a kid! These are no different. That silver monkey straw is pretty fancy too. XD

I'd make her one that was spray painted silver so she can say she got one.  Grin
