Kite Day!!!!

So, today was kite day at the kiddos school and I'm cheap. Rather than spend 3 x the cost of a kite (3 kids total) I decided to make it my mission to make kites for them. I was totally surpriised to find that there are NO homemade kites on Craftster!!! After searching Google I found a tutorial for "the 20 minute kite". Super easy and I made 3 in an hour (I was being hounded by a two year old AND had to go down to the garage to find the tape).


I only gave it 10' of string and here is where I wish I had given it more.


So easy a two year old can do it....ok, with mom actually getting it in the air...

i remember having those in my elementary school days.  we used to make our own out of a plastic bag and string (though i don't remember how anymore.)
i have a pretty kickass dragon that i got at costco.. i should take it out for a flight this weekend!

That's awesome! I haven't made a kite in years and years! I really like the shape of that one, so I'm going to look it up...

That's a really quite elegant design! Simple and effective.

My bro and I usually made dowel and garbage bag kites with shredded grocery bags tied into bows on the tail. We had to, because the sparrows kept attacking his Korean hawk kite

Have fun and if you have a lot of space, make a much longer string! I really wish I had gone longer than the ten feet it called for
