From my understanding, so long as you mark 'gift' on the customs form, they can't really charge fees?  I could be wrong, of course. *G*

That did not work for me.  It was marked gift.

Oh, eep. Sad  I'm definitely curious what others say in that case!

I mark it gift, try to be as descriptive as possible in the tiny space, and put a declared value of $5, 10 or 15 depending on what I am including.  I haven't heard from anyone I send to for my sale items or swaps that they have had to pay except for one time when I put $50 or something on it because that was what the item sold for or was worth to replace it if lost.

My brother told me you have to mark it as a gift, and to write no more than 25 dollars on the package. I didn't know about it, otherwise I would have told you.
But no matter, I'm really pleased with everything I got, the value of it all is way higher than the fee I had to pay, I think.

That was the problem.  I put 50 dollars as the value. and I wished I would have known.  Since I bought some of the stuff the glitters and clear stamps, ribbons to add some excitement to your package because of the cost for the flat rate box, I figured I needed to at least cover the cost of those things in case they opened it.  Next time I will make everything looked used.  That really sucks!  Again I am so sorry for your cost.

Most countries have an import tax, including ours (USA)...if you purchase something from a store in, say, England, the receiver has to pay tax unless the seller agrees to...gifts are limited to $25 so I always put less than that...if your package is insured, however, you will only get the $25...since most of the stuff I sent was from my stash, I felt like it was ok to do that...

quaggy--like cherryrose said, you probably sent way more than what she could have purchased  so she still made out!!  I would not worry about it at all...you must have sent some awesome package and I am sure cherryrose loved it!  I have seen her work and know that she will use up whatever you sent very well!  YAY!

hugs to you jaders---hope all is ok soon!

Oh, that's good to know!  Thank you. Cheesy

My package is at the post office - picking it up today! (And probably ripping into it in the car, if I know myself!)

I am the same way kaz!  On occasion my bf will even bring me swap packages from home when he comes to pick me up, so that I don't have to wait til we get home!!   Grin  Of course, he often decides this gives him first dibs on fabric, so he can tell me what to make for him...Smiley
