hi all
i know there is a specific forum for swaps, but i just wanted to gauge the support for a home spun yarn swap?
kind of in the spirit of the "i'll show you mine" yarn swap, but all hand-spun..
any interest??

I'll swap if I can swap with you or Woolgathered, Midnightsky!  I'm sure my stuff isn't as good as both of yours...but I am going to the MD Sheep and Wool festival this weekend and planning on buying more roving and other stuff......maybe I'll get better?

ohhhh this sounds great... and i guess we could actually match up skill levels (that way someone who is badass won't get disappointed by the yarn they get?)... so maybe  i can participate after all i can totally dye some roving though =)

Given that the MD Sheep and Wool Festival is today and tomorrow, and that I was there today and finally got to play on a spinning wheel.....now I HAVE to get one.....could we wait until I've bought a wheel?

cool
i'm glad to see some interst in this..
i agreee that it would be a good idea to match up folks with similar skill levels, and also the idea of including other spinning related things like roving, or home made drop spindles. i have never organized a swap befopre but i think i'll make this my first!
i think i wil hold off a bit longer though, a few weeks maybe, for more people to hone thier skills (me included!)
i will let y'all know when it's time.
until then happy spinning...

I was looking at Pluckyfluff's new book Handspun Revolution, http://www.pluckyfluff.com/handspunrevolution.html, and I was thinking it would be really cool to do a roving swap. The way it would work is each person would dye/imbelish a certain amount of roving. Then they would divide it up into x equal portions with x being the number of participants. Then all of the roving would be mailed to one person and they would divy out the roving so that each person gets a portion of each roving and mail the boxes back. Skill level wouldn't matter in this swap and in the end we can post pictures of the final yarns.
