So a few of us from Shop the swap are starting this project all at once. I thought perhaps there might be others Who'd want to join us in the knit-a-long!

(phot belongs to tragicheronie)
I personally HAVE to finish mine by the 7th of May. I need to wear it for my sisters wedding the next day. Smiley

The pattern is here:
http://kellymaher.wordpress.com/2007/07/04/ribbed-lace-bolero/
And it's by one of craftster's own members tragicheroine.

This bolero is so incredibly cute and I am seriously considering learning how to knit so I can have one of these in yellow.

I couldn't find cotton ease so I bought hobby lobby's I love this cotton. Yeah still cheap. lol. My dress is a blue dip dye with a paisley print on top. So I picked a muted shade of blue. I also think I can wear it with jeans due to the color.

loudxmouse- YEAH! I knew I could rope you in. Though you'll probably be done in like 3 days with your knitting speed!

lapoi- thanks for the encouragement. I am a slow knitter but I think I can do it by then! I learned norwiegin purling so I'm a little faster. I've never picked up stitches (which I understand is needed for the edging.) but I know I can do it if I put my mind to it!

You can totally learn. I learned almost entirely online. I also bought the Knitting book "stitch n bitch" after borrowing it from the library(for a test drive. lol) between the two I learned really quickly! I'm sure you can too!
knittinghelp.com is the best as is youtube. They both have videos for just about anything but I know knittinghelp.com has them in an easy to follow format.

I Did the math today for this and plan to cast on tomorrow. Smiley

This has been on my list of projects for so long, but I really should finish the lap blanket I'm halfway done with before I start anything else. I will probably re-visit this thread for inspiration/tips once I do start it, though. It would be awesome if you ladies told me how much yarn you wind up using (as well as the weight, if it differs from the pattern).

I am the slowest knitter, but this was one of the first knit patterns that really made me want to learn! I need some yarn, I have the needles... I'll definitely think about it!

My yarn is 4 skeins of i love this cotton from hobby lobby. It's a number 4 worsted weight. I'll let you know how much I use. I'm worried I may not have bought enough right now as the directions on the website say 2 skeins of cotton-ease and on ravelry it didn't specify just had a number of yards so that's what I went with. Will keep you all posted!

Eliea, I knitted one in a deep red colour for Fall and enjoyed wearing it!

Now that you started the KAL, I might have to see if I have suitable yarn in my stash (trying my darnest to be good and not buy more yarn Tongue) and knit another one for Spring and Dooler summer evenings Smiley

Anyhow, I'll be checking this thread to follow the progress of your bolero!!

I never seem to have enough yarn in any particular color to do anything Undecided I have some of Hobby Lobby's I love this yarn acrylic in black with silver sparkle that I would love to use for this, hopefully its enough:P I haven't tried HL's cotton yarn yet, been tempted but they never had enough of any one particular color that I wanted (seems to be a popular yarn choice in my area).
