I've been inspired by Craftster to have a go at the recycled book bag idea (thanks Craftster!). And I love recycling old ties, and thought they'd work well together. Im sure Im not the first person to have thought of combining old books and old ties, but Im still proud. My first completed Craftster project!

Both peasy AND easy, it took a lot less time than I thought it would. 1 book, 2 ties (all dark blue and gold), and a scrap of felt to cover the bottom. I just used glue, so it's really only up to light handbag duties (great for mincing about at art openings), rather than anything heavy duty (not recommended for scouring op-shops for new supplies).

I'm going try stitching one next I think. Suggestions and tips welcome!

Thank you! It has been admired by several friends, so I have to hang on to it tightly.  Wink

I think this rocks! I love that you used a couple of ties so everything is reused materials and not typical.
I have been in want of a handbag similar to this but the designer uses old cheesy paper backs like the brady bunch. No one understands my obsession but I think this says I am smart('cause i read) and I look good ( 'cause i carry a rockin' bag). Just my opinion. Smiley

I love the blue in this bag.
The tie and the book matches perfectly.
Great job.

I have several books I've held onto/purchased with the intention on making a "book" bag. Just never seem to get around to it...Now I'm re-inspired...Very cute.
