So, I've seen a lot of recipes online for a "5 Minute Chocolate Mug Cake". Being the chocoholic that I am, I HAD to try this. Many people said it was coming out rubbery, and just plain nasty. I concluded that this was due to overcooking. I combined several of the recipes, and came up with this:

4 tbsp flour
2 packages of hot chocolate mix (I only used 1, but will use 2 next time)
1 tsp baking powder
a pinch of salt
1 egg
3 tbsp oil
3 tbsp milk
3-4 tbsp of finely chopped chocolate (I used Dove dark chocolate)

I used an extra large mug (about 5 inches in diameter), mixed the dry ingredients, then added the wet and the chocolate.

Then microwave for 1 1/2 minutes, let stand in the microwave for about a minute, nuke 30 more seconds.

Let stand 1-2 minutes, and voila!

Chocolate cake!

It was very good! Not wonderful, but definitely good, and perfect for a quick chocolate fix. All it needed was a bit more cocoa and sugar, which is why I said to use 2 hot chocolate packages instead of just one. It was yummy, and I'll certainly make it again. Smiley

Yeah, I made one of these before and it was very dry and not delicious. Yours sounds WAY better though, and I'll be trying it soon. Cake in a mug! Love it!

Tried it with the 2nd package of hot chocolate tonight. It was even better! It made the batter thicker, which ended up making it more moist. All it needed was some chocolate icing and it would have been perfection  Grin

awesome!! I tried the other version and it wasn't good at all.. I'll def. try this one...

one question thought, when you say two packages of hot chocolate mix, how many ounces is it? or tablespoons..?
... I only got hershey's powdered chocolate right now, and its  special dark one... so I guess I'll have to add more sugar..

Hmm... It was probably about 4 tablespoons with the two packages combined, and yes you'd definately need to add sugar! Probably wouldn't taste too great without it haha. Let me know if you try it Smiley

Ok, I just tasted it....

and it was pretty good.. In my sister words after she tasted it.. "uhhmm..its not that bad.. its actually good... a little more sugar maybe" you see i used special dark chocolate mix.. I added like 4 tbsp of sugar.. next time it will be 5, although we added some "dulce de leche" and it was better...

The mix spend the night in the fridge cuz I ran out of eggs so i had to wait till morning to get more, dont know if that did something to it and I didn't add the chopped chocolate.  .. Smiley

Here are some pics...

supposed to be a close up of the texture but i didn't quite nail it...

so yeah.. I give it 4 stars..

Irishfrog..you're my hero! Smiley
