I felt like I was on the Lost island while I was making this! My bambo structure

So I have gotten really excited about the idea of string gardens. http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=344229.msg4003340#msg4003340 Today I put together 3 new plants, they have cilantro, basil, and oregano seeds in them. After making them I realized that I needed them in full sun and to do this I would have to build something (yay!). A friend of mine has a backyard full of bamboo, so I went to his place to harvest some. I live next to the local university because of this I got a lot of strange looks as I carried 4, 15 foot poles of bamboo down the block. Anywho, I stripped them of their branches, cut them into 4 foot poles. I hammered them into the ground with a fat/short length of bamboo. Then I lashed other bamboo poles to the ones in the ground with some string and hung my string plants from them. I had a lot of fun doing this and for some reason felt like a lostie (I know I'm a huge dork).

That's so cool! I'm moving into a house and would love to have some fresh herbs but I'm not sure of how the bark yard is. This idea would ensure I can have something planted anyways. I totally need to tell my aunt about this. Thanks for sharing!

I love that! I bet the neighbors are wondering what you are up to. Let them wonder..It makes things more fun. When I was younger I used to ride a horse to another girl's house and pick her up on the back and we we go riding in the woods. Her neighborhood was a lot upity and people used to make real mean faces at us or yell. My horse never left them sidewalk treats so I never saw the big deal. So, I hope you smile too when you look at your cool plants and that neat holder.
