I am so proud of these! I was inspired by Silvana's wedding invitations (

These are above my bed. That wall has been empty and blue for the past 10 months and I've been wanting to decorate it forever but I have no money, so I figured I'd make something with stuff I already have.
The black frames were from painting canvases from a stupid painting class I had to take in college (we had to pay $500+ for supplies just to learn how to paint squares). I ripped the canvases off and there was a nice wood frame that I painted black.
The birds were fun to make. I found bird silhouettes on Google that I liked, printed them out to use as a stencil. I then traced the silhouette onto a Cheerio box and cut them out. For the music on the birds, I first coffee dyed the paper so it isn't just white. When the paper dried I printed piano sheet music onto them, which were cut into strips and glued to the birds. The birds were then hot glued to the frames and I used wooden dowels glued to the back of the birds for extra support.
At this point I thought I was done, but it looked too empty, so I stapled yarn to the frames which gave them a birdcage feel.
I then stapled black lace to hang the frames by, and added a bow to hide the screw that was used to hang them up.
So technically I didn't have to pay for anything (right now, I did earlier), so it was free art! I am in love with these
