I have many fond memories of a superman shirt I wore growing up that got so worn the red turned glittery and gray/blue. I was educated recently that my mom's twin brother bought it when they were growing up for a Halloween Clark Kent costume. And now the shirt resides with my sister who somehow manages to still wear it. lol

Well at the thrift store last week I saw a superman shirt in a size large and had to have it. And it turned out to be 1.2 off! Sure it was a size bigger than I wear but I thought to myself "more fabric for reconing!"

So after starting on this Monday I finally finished the last bit of bias tape edging on the sleeves today and had to share! no before pics but it was a typical boxy mens large. Smiley

Front

Back. There's a casing and elastic to snug it up and make it more girly. Smiley

3/4 view so you can see the sleeves. Smiley

Bows cover so many flaws.
So what do you think? How'd I do?

I would so totally wear that!  One question:  is the biased part of the sleeve and open hole decoration - or is that where the arm would come out. . . I just can't tell from the pictures.

Very cute recon. I love the way you made it fitted to your body and the holes on the sleeves at the shoulder. Wink I wondered about that too Sandroo but then I just checked out the other pics she had in her photo hosting and you can see its biased taped around a hole and not the actual arm hole.

Very pretty, erm I mean Super! Cheesy

It's just decorative. Your arm comes out below that. I have a example picture of me wearing the shirt but I didn't want to flood the post with pics. and I took it before I added the pretty bias edging. Here's a thumbnail:

Bias tape is like my kryptonite (sp?) so I am very much impressed by what you've done. I love the scoop neck in the back. Great recon!

It was for me too till I found this tut:

And now the girl who made that tut and I chat all the time. She's really sweet.
Anywho since then bias tape is not scary. If you find it hard with the thinner bias tape the stuff around the neck is double fold extra wide. It's a lot  easier to use.
Also go slowly and you'll have more luck. Smiley

Thanks for the comment!

It's as much fun to scare as to be scared.
