The Pittsburgh Craft Collective has partnered with the Calliope School for Folk Music to offer the following class:

Learn the old way of making yarn with a simple shaft and weight. In this class, you will learn the park and draft method of spinning, and start heading towards the actual dropping of the spindle. No experience with yarn or wool necessary.

Beginner spindles can be bought at Knit One in Squirrel Hill or Natural Stitches in East Liberty. They can also be ordered on-line from any fine wool shop http://www.paradisefibers.net/ or from etsy.com. For this class, I will provide 2 oz of hand dyed soft, squishy Falkland wool per person for $6. There will be several colors to pick from.

**Please bring payment for materials to the first class and pay the instructor directly. This is a 1 session workshop. No discounts available.**

Cosette Cornelius-Bates (cosymakes.com) is a full time wool working fiber artist who lives in Pittsburgh PA. She spends much of her time dyeing, spinning, knitting, designing, and teaching and loves every minute of it.

Level: Beginner to intermediate
Course Fee: $25.00

Spring 2010: Monday April 26, 2010, 7:30pm-9pm at Chatham University

You can register for the class here: http://calliope.doreme.org/calliope/
