I made Reginald the elephant for a friend.

He took about a week, all told.
I used this pattern (Pointy Kitty Pattern- it's a .pdf) and modified the head and tail.
The original pattern has a straight-up tail (make one, they're ludicrious cute) and a cat head. I essentially cut off the tail and changed the head.
I made him out of some grey and pink fleece I had over from a previous project.
The head was very simply made- it's just two pieces of cloth sewn together, as are the ears. (The pink fleece was simply cut out and sewn on.)
The tail is a scrap of left-over grey folded in half and sewn together.
Sewing machines and I Do Not Get On, so this is all hand-sewn.
Over-stuffing is the way to go, as it makes it stand up nicely, etc. You may want to use a pencil to stuff the trunk and legs.
