Basic black maternity pants are $37 at Target!  Boo!!!

I took a pair that I frequently wear to work (and justified this by reasoning that if I totally ruin the pants I'm not going back to work after the baby anyway!) and an old golf shirt...

cut, cut, sew sew...

and voila!  maternity pants!

I've seen this tute-ed about a million times but have never had the courage to chop up a perfectly good pair of pants before.  The panel goes all the way around and is long because I wanted the option of over and under belly action.

I posted a tute on my blog: http://arrayanbaby.blogspot.com/2010/04/how-to-make-maternity-pants-from.html

I love maternity pants - it's the comfort of sweatpants combined with the professionalism of regular pants.

Those look great! I may have to muster the courage to cut up some of my dress pants.  Thanks for the tute!
