Okay.  So.  I have a friend who is *obsessed* with Hanson (YES still!)  I dont ask why.  Anyway.. I ordered a couple Cassette singles off ebay, so I could make a couple of those single journal thingys... found here -->

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=6883.0

and decided I should do something with the Tapes as well.  Since I wasn't going to be using them.  ever.

Now these are some bulky earrings, but my friend is very eccentric and would wear them I would hope.

I just drilled three holes on the edge of the tape with a dremel tool.  Then attached three earrings fish hooks.  I figured the more holes you have in your ear the better to hold these heavy suckers up.  I have 3 holes in my ear lobes and so does my friend, so I made 3.  But you could do 2, or 4...or 2371 depending on what you have to work with.  The more the merrier.

This is a good idea for any kind of bulky earrings you desire to make!

I hope my friend likes them.  I havent fineshed the second one yet, but was really excited to post it, since I havent posted anything for a while.

thanks for looking!

thanks guys.  Yeah I would never be able to wear these, my ears are WAY to sensitive, but I think my friend can handle it, I've seen her wear worse. hehe

I love Venture Bros, I wait eagerly for more episodes to arrive!!!

haha. thats kinda funny. thats a good idea tho, its cute and all. i think i would have used the tiny ones for like answering machines or whatever, i think thats what theyre for. but i guess you had to use big ones for the hanson reason alone. and nothings wrong with hanson, even i, listening to mostly emo get in the mood to listen to mmmbop once in a while. lol.

They aren't that heavy, since they go through three holes in my lobe, it holds them pretty nice.  I think the more you have your lobes peirced, and the more fishhooks dealys you can put on the cassette tapes, the less heavy it will be.

My ears are so sensitive tho, that they started to burn after taking the picture, but that happens to me with most earrings.  So I'm not surprised.

Guess it depends how much ones ears can take.  hehe.  I think it would be super cute to do it with the message tapes, do they still make them?  Anyway, my friend is obessed with gawdy and bulky jewlery, so hopefully she'll like them!  =)

Cool.  I've actually seen tiny recorder tapes for sale as earrings some where online.  I've considered making some.  Maybe you could try a smaller tapes like those.  Just a suggestion.
