Remember the Reconstructed Batman Hoodie?  Yeah, that one.  Alas, I haven't gotten the Super Hero bug out of my system yet. Behold Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern!

In brightest day, in darkest night

No evil shall escape my sight

Let those who worship evil’s might

Beware my power…

Green Lantern’s Light!

This was my project for Lee Meredith's 24 hour Makealong, and while some spectacular fails left me finishing up the shirt this morning rather than last night, I still stayed mostly within the deadline.

It started out as three shirts (thrift store woot!), for a sum total of $3.50 in materials.  Well, $3.50 and thread.  In quick summation, to get from point A to point B on this project I: resized and changed the neckline on a green shirt, swapped out the green sleeves for black (while leaving a green sleeve cap), appliquéd on the rest of the black side panel around the sleeves, cut the bottom of the green shirt off at a point and put a black band across the bottom, replaced the black forearms with white and printed out the Green Lantern emblem for a pattern and sewed together a nice appliqué patch from my scraps.  Voila!

If that quick summation isn't enough for you, I liveblogged it all (because making a Hal Jordan shirt wasn't nerdy enough), so if you want a litany of hows, fails, and pictures thereof, check out the Makealong catagory on my blog.

Very cool.  And all for under $5?  Impressive.  Who's next, The Flash?

That's incredible. I love the Green Lantern (as well as Batman!) so you've really inspired me to make some awesome new shirts!
