I've just finished my first ever proper sewing project using my machine. I had been putting it off time and time again because I couldn't find the perfect project but then I figured I had to start somewhere.

I used the Ric-rac 1 hour tutorial that I found on another post (http://vintagericrac.blogspot.com/2008/01/1-hour-bag-tutorial.html). It didn't take me an hour - it took me about 3 but I am a total beginner. I dug out some fat quarters, chose a fabric and cut it to size, only to realise of course a handbag has 2 sides!! I didn't have enough to make both so picked a co-ordinating fabric hence the 2 different colours. I also had to do a fair bit of seam ripping when I sewed my handles in the middle of the lining and the outer fabric. Doh!! I guess that's what you get for sewing at 11pm when my 4 month old son is in bed. My sewing isn't neat enough yet to leave the edges of the handles out like the tute.

But anyway... Thought I'd post for some feedback. All is welcome!

I never would have guessed this was your first sewing project! I really love the colors you chose and how you used two different version of the same fabric on each exterior side.

I can't wait to see your future projects. Keep it up!
