Hi Craftsters,

I want to sew some curtains for the outside of my windows of my house, and I have a couple questions. The windows are sheltered from the elements by an overhang, but could still get some rain depending on the wind.
I've read that oilcloth is good for outdoor use, but isn't it the consistency of a picnic tablecloth?
Are there other options you would recommend?
My favorite fabrics are cottons, is there anything I can do to make them somewhat outdoorsy?

Thanks!
Jen

Check into outdoor fabrics such as Sunbrella.  I used it for my outdoor cushions 8 years ago and they still look great.  It is a bit stiff so a deep hem would be a good idea for curtains.

I've been doing some research myself into outdoor fabrics for boat sewing lately.
Here are some links for a few online fabric stores that sell Sunbrella and some other outdoor fabrics at cheaper prices.
