My boyfriend and I recently adopted a cat named Obi as a companion for our cat Kitten. I had high hopes for them getting along so I decided to make them a bigger bed so they could sleep together. They were very wary of each other to begin with but after a few days they became the best of friends.

I saw a suitcase pet bed somewhere on the internet so I decided to make it for the cats. I found an old, hard-backed suitcase at an antique store for $12. My boyfriend helped me break off the top half of the suitcase with hand-weights and then I ripped out the old lining. I didn't take any pictures of that but picture smelly, light purple satin lining. Here's the suitcase with the lining ripped out.

Apparently the suitcase once belonged to A. Davis from Chicago, Il.

I then lined the suitcase with a thick, dark brown fabric I found at the bargain rack at Joann's.

I made a patchwork cushion with some scrap fabric from a quilt I made.

So cute!  My sister had a cat named Kitten.

Awww! What a good idea. They always like to get in your suitcase when you are packing, so why not give them their own. LOL Your new kitty looks just like Rocky did as a baby. I wish he and my Missy would get along this well, maybe if I make them a suitcase bed.....

You must be crafting cat magic over there!  Seems like most of the time when one makes or buys something specifically for the cats, they want nothing to do with it.

And it looks great, too!  May I ask how you attached the liner?
