Silver Chain and Garnet Pendant

A handmade silver chain and silver and garnet pendant.



Garnet is one of my favorite stones. It's also my birthstone, and I wanted to make myself a piece of jewelry with it since I have nearly none.

The clasp is made from one length of silver wire twisted and turned onto itself.

Wow! You must have the patience of an angel to solder each ring to make that. 
Bezels are my next adventure, but I am still slightly terrified.  This is beautiful!

It goes faster than you think. Start with soldering singles. Then, solder another ring onto each single, which leaves you with doubles. Next, solder a ring to connect two doubles together, which leaves you fives, and so on. Before you know it you'll have one long chain.

Bezels can be challenging at first, but just take your time, and you'll get it.

Oh I dunno. At a course last summer I watched some girls do things that would have had me cursing and throwing things. This would be one of those things.

I also need to work on bezels more. I need to get some firebrick set up and get soldering again!
