Hello, all! Going through the Father's Day thread, I've noticed dozens of "What can I make for <insert character trait here> dad?"

There are a lot of truly good ideas out there, so let's try to compile them all on one thread. For one reason, it clogs up the board having multiple posts about, essentially, the same topic. Also, there are a lot of really great ideas from your fellow Craftsters! If you're like me, you might start out with one idea, and find something totally new and different just by browsing everyone's suggestions! Cheesy

So feel free to ask away and start throwing out suggestions! I will add links as I come across them. Smiley

I'm hoping to get my dad one of these shirts. They're great for woodworkers and handymen with a sharp sense of humor.

The store has other versions too.

I agree with Juicebox29, you cannot go wrong with pictures. This year, my dad, stepdad, and father-in-law got pictures of the family and their grandsons.

Last year, I made my husband a neat picture. We were short of money because it was the summer time, I work during the school semester as a professor, and my husband was in grad school.

Borrowing a little acrylic paint and a paint sponge from my boys craft supplies, I made my husband a painting on a inexpensive piece of flat canvas. I think I bought pack of three pieces for $3. Since I'm not the greatest painter, I simply sponge painted the canvas with orange and yellow, our colors. Once the paint dried, I painted very ticklish feet with black water soluble paint; each boy stepped on one side of the picture. The water soluble paint still dries nicely but is easier and safer to wash off little feet.

For more detail, I also wrote a how-to last year on my blog: http://snipsansnails.blogspot.com/2010/06/fathers-day-craft-project-footprint.html

The year before that, I made my husband a handprint using kids' craft foam and a sharpie marker. Stepping stones are fun to make too.

for my baseball loving father in law (my boyfriend's dad, who I'm very close to)
i might make him a cupcake, and decorate it as if it were a baseball ;o
my dad loves martial arts, he's a toootal geek when it comes to it! so i might paint something for him.. i'm thinking a sequence shot of a cool kick Shocked! the figure would be completely black (i would be drawing the silhouette) and the background different shades of red.. (;
