I have two old yoga pants (one black, one gray) and two pairs of old denim jeans, both faded blue and very distressed.

Usually I donate my old clothes. Thing is, I am not donating these trousers - they're so worn I wouldn't want anyone else to wear them. So I thought ... what about making something out of the scraps!?

I am at a loss, however. Quick! Anyone would like to help me brainstorm for ideas?

Denim is such a great material. You can cut it up into pieces and make a pillow, or if the top is in good condition perhaps a butt bag?
scraps of denim could make  cute scarf or skirt. If you have a ton of jeans even a quilt!

You could use scraps of denim for a meditation pillow, and fill it with beans or rice. To sit on I mean.
Or give it away if you don't meditate. Or just use it to sit on.

I imagine the yoga pants are very soft by now. You could cut them into yarn and knit a rag from it, to put in the bathroom or by your bed. So your feet touch the soft rag.

Nice idea to reuse it all! Good luck Smiley

i second the "yarn" idea (by cutting the pants into long strips).  also pant legs could be sewn up as draft dodgers for doors.  also, a cat bed would be great out of the yoga pants.

and the denim- you could make small drawstring bags out of them.

I've always wondered if you could cut strips out of old denim stuff and braid rag rugs out of it...  I have not yet tried that, but I have a few "retired" pairs around to work on someday!

You could make a bag out of the top jeans and line it with the yoga pants.  You can make a tube with elastic/drawstring at each end of the leg of the jeans to hold rags/bandannas/underwear/otherstuff-you-can't-figure-out-a-place-to-put.    Cut 3 long strips out of the other jeans leg and braid it for the hand bag strap.  You can make a pair of mitts out of the legs of the yoga pants/  Maybe even elbow length ones.   Braid a headband out of what ever you have left.

I'd probably  try those cool denim boxes tho

The Jeans Would Make A Sturdy Drawstring Backpack
I Made One From A Pair Of Cargo Pants and It Holds Alot!

Yoga Pants - I Don't Know If Yours Are Made From Jersey Fabric Like Mine, If So, Then Cut The Legs In Narrow Strips Horizontally, So You End Up With Lots Of "Rings" - Weave The Rings/Bands To Make Potholders - If You're Handy With A Hammer & Nails and Some Narrow Pieces Of Wood, You Can Make A Simple Loom

Oh my gosh what can't you use them for? I use old denim for tons of things.

First off you can always just make rags, great for scrubbing the tub or cleaning up spills. The yoga pants can totally be made into strips and used like yarn to make dish cloths, face cloths, little bag, small mat. I saw a really cool tutorial that used denim to make a name book for kids. Or you can make yourself a pair of slippers and use denim for the soles and yoga pant for the lining. I think someone already said a denim purse lined with the yoga pants. You can make a super simple drawstring bag by just cutting a section out of the leg, sewing the bottom, and flipping over part of the top to make a 'tunnel' for the string. The longest lasting ferret hammocks I've made were out of old jeans.
