i wanted to make my own pasta for several reasons.
mainly because i was intrigued. but i am also a broke student.
and i always make things too complicated when i want to start something new.

anywho, i wanted to make a portrait of one of my heroes in her younger years.
i wanted it to be kinda kitsch, but not too insane to hang on my wall.

i started by making the dough, and adding food coloring.
then i just started sculpting after this image that i found in the internets.

i was waaay to detailed when i started.

it took for ever (eight hours).

oh noes! it's cracking... Cry

live and learn. i had to keep spraying it with water to keep it moist enough to sculpt.
in the end, it was very unevenly dry. that's probably why it cracked on me.

i'm thinking of putting some varnish or something to give it a glossy look.
right now it looks kinda fugly up close. i think i will keep squinting at it.

thank you for looking!

thankful for pointers/comments

That is very beautiful. And very inventive of you to make it from homemade pasta. That thought didn't even occur to me when I first looked at the challenge.

thank you for the nice comments Smiley
i was in kind of a bad mood when i wrote the entry.
i think i needed to catch some z's Cheesy
i have never tried anything like it before,
and now i know that it takes way longer than i thought it would.
still glad i tried it.
it always makes me happy to get some input,
and to see what everyone else has created.
