Made from Butterick 5195.
(the black bit on top is my tank top)

I made size 28, even though I am pretty sure I am a 26, I wanted it to be super comfy.

This is the first item of clothing I have ever made that I actually want to wear (halloween costumes don't count).

The fabric is possibly some kind of polyester (?). I get very overwhelmed when surrounded by too much pretty fabric. It's not stretchy at all and it has a slight sheen to it.
I bought it at FabricLand, on the discount wall, for 60% off. I just about crapped my pants with joy when I found it.

I was hesitant about the elastic waist, it's in a casing. It turned out better than I thought it would, but if I make this pattern again, I'd like to try a shirred waist, as I've never shirred before...

All the inner seams are zigzagged (every time I glance at my Mother's serger I can feel it give me hate vibes).
The hems are zigzagged and folded under about a cm and sewn. I did this so the hem wouldn't be as heavy (and irritating to sew).
The neckline was done with a rolled hem, which I have never done before. It's a little iffy in places, but not too bad. In hindsight, I wish I had done the same as I did on the hems, but oh well.

It was easy to make too! There are only 5 pieces, plus the elastic. I didn't get stressed out once while making it, that's a miracle in itself.

I bought this pattern the other day! I plan on it being my first piece of clothing to wear. I'm a size 26 so I will do a 28 as well.

Thanks!

Beautiful dress! The shape, the color, the pattern are lovely and it flatters your figure well. You did a great job sewing this dress. I say... save this pattern and make it up in other colors and patterns for a closet filled with spring and summer dresses made for you and by you!

It is so pretty.  I wish I knew what the shape of the top pattern pieces is.  I don't usually buy patterns.
