I make costumes for LARP events and am attending an event set in 1823 next month. It's a royal wedding so a brand new pretty dress was needed.

This is what i came up with. It is at a stage i would call 'wearable' which means that on the outside it looks fine but on the inside, well it could do with a seam or two tidying up!

I love how it fastens down the back and the multi dart bust gives it just the right fit with a the slightly dropped empire waist (heading into the mid 1820s the wasit started to drop toward the natural waist line from the under-bust that had ben populat for the last 15 years or so).

I have no idea what the fabric is, its like some sort of silk dupion with embroidary, but i think it is synthetic. nice to sew but a little stuff at times. OK so on to the pics.

Here is the dress in the making w/out sleaves.

The color is so luxurious! Great job! Will you wear it on the street after your event?

It is better to have crafted and failed then never to have crafted at all.
Yes, I am stalking the Toys and Playthings board. Thanks for noticing!
I'm cheating on Craftster with Pinterest. It's ok though. There's overlap.

I won't get action pics until May when i will be in full costume.

The fringing makes it feel even more luxurious. I can't wait to wear it with all the accesories (gold shoes, big handpainted balck silk fan, matching back, hair done, gold jewelry. I will be the belle of the ball damnit!)
