I have way too many swaps going on so this wouldn't happen for a while but how about a swap where everyone purchases a yard of white or unbleached muslin and stencils it or does whatever they want according to their partners likes. Then mail it off and and you gt to make something out of it. I got the idea from this http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=34021.0 project.

It would be fun to make it a two part thing- you make your partner something and mail off, you use your fabric and post so we can all see the end result. Let me know what you think.

I think anything can be done as long as your partner would like it.

I think this is a great idea, but what if, instead of sending the altered/dyed fabric back to the first partner, it gets passed on to a third person, who makes something from it, and then sends it to the first partner? Does that make sense? Like:

Ann buys and alters the fabric that will end up with Christy ----> Ann sends it to Becky, who makes something from the fabric----> Becky sends the finished product to Christy

Now that I explain it, it seems a little confusing, but you'd end up with something that has been crafty-fied by two people. It's a lot of work for an organizer, but I think it'd be a fun swap. (There's always the option that the person altering the fabric would make two yard's worth, and half is made up into something and half is left for the original owner).

Saving the world from the forces of darkness with creativity and glue.  Lots of glue. And glitter.

I love this idea. Any excuse to get out the print gocco or screenprinting junk.

I think this is a really cool idea. I'm a newbie but really keen to participate in a swap. People have posted really fabulous things they've made and I think it would be a real inspiration for creativity to see how someone else interprets this (or almost any) swap idea.

I think that it might be cool to be less restrictive (i.e. not limit this to modified white muslin, but anything the swap partner might like). I'm way into colour. I like to screen print fabric and lately I've been making lino prints on fabric too.

I also like the modified iterative swap ( A alters fabric -> B re-alters -> C). And depending on what C receives s/he might want to further modify it too!

I'd participate if you organize it. Maybe you just have to wait until enough craftsters notice your cool idea.  Wink
