I love the apple sauce-cinnamon-white glue dough. The dough is easy to use and the small lasts a a long time.
But the cinnamon does stain - so that is something to remember if using them in the push molds. I know you can dust corn starch or baby powder to make releasing your clay easier, so maybe it will help with preventing staining.

Here's an applehead site I have used over the years:
http://www.appledolls.org/

Alwaysinmyroom - many sites TELL you to use the dash of your car as a dehydrator! Not gross at all - call it accidental art. Smiley

Oh, and that cinnamon dough smells so nice!

So many possibilities for these little dolls!

Thanks for reminding me that the cinnamon does stain, smmarrt! I make cinnamon dough gingerbread ornaments each year to tie to Christmas packages...I found that if you coat them with varnish or something, you lose the smell...so I just make sure they are super dry...I know some people complain of cracking, but I have not had that problem--not sure why not...

I checked my paper recipe--no glue!  The glue or paste is only used in the paper mache part! I guess it is just the water and how much you work the pulp...I will take picks next time I do it so I can be sure of all the steps...my hubby is making me another screen because I used the last one to try silk screening...Cheesy

There's a recipe out there for dryer lint paper mache pulp that would probably work pretty well!

http://familycrafts.about.com/od/papermache/a/lintpmpulp.htm

I have SO much dryer lint accumulated that I've been wanting to try this, but it only lasts for a few days, and I never make anything big enough to use it all up, so I haven't done it yet.

(my dotees are packed up and ready to go!  I have to wait until my paycheck gets posted before I can make labels, then I'm sending the kid to the post office!  whee!)

I just got a push mold face a week or 2 ago from Hobby Lobby just because. With so many great ideas I think I will give it a try on the next dotee swap. The applesauce cinnamon clay is a idea I wouldn't have thought of. I made Christmas ornaments out of it years ago and they still have a good smell to them. The dryer lint thing is an interesting thing too. I have made paper mache in the past, but never thought to use the lint in it. I can collect plenty of that in a short amount of time. I love all these great ideas. Grin
Now for what I came to do. I am sorry I didn't post last night. Here is the cute dotee I got from Amazing_784.

The first thing that came to mind when I took it out of the envelope was John Lennon. I guess it's the glasses. I love my little hippy-flower child dotee. Thank you.

Amazing_784: Cute John Lennon-y Dotee!! Gotta make me one of those! He's adorable, and I recognize that decorative stitch on the headband - Do you have a Husqvarna, too?

Always - Dog and cat fur wouldn't even be visible in a molded item, especially with paint and finish. I say go for it. Smiley

And I am stopping for some cheapo knee-high nylons later today so I can play with making faces. I am totally up for a Geezer Dotee swap!

THe apple head would be hilarious...!

I remember making one for a grade 10 history fair project on Tom THompson, and not thinking that it would work for the piece...I couldn't bear to throw it out though, and ended up using it the following year for a grade 11 history project on mummification...worked perfectly!

Wow...when is the next round...I have a million more ideas now!
