Ok...my 15 year old daughter is a HUGE anime fan!!  Loves it!  So her daddy is taking her to Sakuracon in Seattle this weekend.  She asked for two costumes....one was very simple and only required a minimum of sewing.

The other however was supposed to look like this:

Empress Tianzi

So I discovered, as I'm sure so many before me, there isn't a pattern for this.  *L*  So I completely winged it and came up with this:

The wig was a long vampire wig that I tied up and cut short....there is a whole lot of hot glue burns on my fingers to show for this little wig project.
She spent a good long time staring at herself in the bathroom mirror.  We finally had to pry her out of it so we could pack it and she could eat dinner!  *L*  I'd say it was a rousing success.

Nope...no pattern used.  I made a pattern as I was going along on the off chance I would need to make another one.  *L*  I don't really see that happening.

I have reports from the convention that her costume is a smashing success....lots and lots of folks asking to take her picture!  She's having a blast.  What 15 year old girl doesn't love to be the center of attention.  *L*

awesome job!  I know first hand, when a kid shows you a picture of an anime character... its sorta daunting to figure out how to make it as most don't fit into a standard pattern.

Oh my goodness! That is so awesome!
As a fellow cosplay maker I congratulate you greatly on your success of a cosplay.
I wish my parents supported my anime-loving tendencies. I always have to do it myself in between school and my part-time job.
Your daughter is a very, very lucky girl.
