A truth evidenced by the burn scars all over my hands  Wink

I made this for my son as much for myself. He's 12 and has been getting some crap from kids at school because he likes to bake/cook and expressed an interest in taking home ec (I'd like to see them laugh at Mario Batali). So I stitched this up for our kitchen as a reminder that real men bake flan.

It was a fun, quick project done on 14ct aida and measure about 7"x5".

right on!!  I'm sure your son has figured this out, but there are usually more girls in Home ec..... maybe he can remind his friens of this lovely fact!  As the mother of a future baking/crocheting/spinning boy, I think your reminder is marvelous!

Let me know if you want me to scan the pattern I drew up for it. Not that it's horribly complicated or anything  Cheesy

Thanks everyone!

it's so true!  nice work.  I hope your son doesn't let them get him down.  When he's all grown up and mixing up 5 star meals and all the other guys can barely make easy-mac, everyone will know who really won  Grin

Perfect way to support your budding chef!  Teen boys love to eat, they should all be following in his footsteps.

SO AWESOME! and yeah, trust me, home ec is a big hit with the ladies. one of my brothers learned that the easy way, LOL. (smart bugger thought he was just getting out of wood shop, but had the added bonus of being the ONLY GUY in a class full of girls. he was thrilled, to say the least.)

besides, speaking as a girl who can bake, but NOT cook, my FAVORITE boys are the ones who are handy in the kitchen. i'm sure many others will agree.  Shocked)

AWESOME stitch, by the way!
