Craft Challenge #50 – Peanut Butter Transport - Due May 1 - May 7

We've finally reached the big 5-0 challenge and we're kicking it up a notch.  Your challenge this month, should you choose to accept it, is to recreate your preferred method of transportation in peanut butter!

Your sculpture should be true-to-life in size.  What does this mean?  Well, if your preferred method of travel is your bicycle, your sculpture should be the exact same size as your actual bicycle.  If you prefer to walk, then your sculpture should be a replica of yourself.  If your preferred method of travel is by airplane or subway, well... you had better get busy! Shocked  The focus of your project should be the peanut butter, but you can use other materials to help it maintain composure, prevent it from melting, etc.  We did some research and peanut butter with a sodium content of 962.12 mg or higher is better for sculpting.  It's available for bulk purchase from many general stores and websites.  You might want to keep this in mind while designing your piece collecting supplies.

To enter, you will be required to post a photo of your sculpture next to your actual preferred method of transportation.  Entries without comparison photos will automatically be removed from the challenge.

If you are creating an extremely large sculpture, please be sure to check with your local officials regarding building permits.

Sorry, no substitutions for this challenge.  If you have food allergies, you might want to sit this one out or take proper medical precautions while crafting your project.

Rules:

  • Post your craft during the period of May 1 - May 7 2010. No sooner.  No later.  On May 1 there will be a special folder created for entries.
  • Voting will happen from May 8 - May 15 2010.
  • Each participant can enter ONE project (Although your entry can have multiple components to it).

Originality:

It's probably impossible to know whether your project is 100% original and has never been posted on Craftster or made by anyone else in the past.  But if your project was definitely inspired by something you've seen before, then just give credit to that project.

Prizes:

At the end, I'll set up a poll right here and the first place winner will get...

(1) their project in the Featured Projects area
(2) their project in the Craftster Blog

And this prize (winner can receive prize in U.S. or non-U.S.):

Any one item from one of Craftster's online shops!

Aw, I'm sorry!  No substitutions for this challenge.

Perhaps you could make homemade peanut butter.

I'm so excited for this!  My daughter has peanut allergies, so she'll just have to stay in her room for a week or so while I do this.  I hope spray paint sticks to pb!

Oh man. I walk everywhere but if I had a choice, my preferred method would be to glide over the surface of the earth at just like 1 inch above the ground. And then I'd kinda move around like I'm "ice skating". It's hard to explain but I've dreamt about it a bunch of times and it's really awesome.

So I guess this means I have to suspend a peanut butter sculpture of myself above the ground. What a challenge!! I'm gonna start today!!

This is totally unfair...

What if it was vegan mayonnaise?

Are we allowed to use anything for support?  You know like toothpick, or pretzels, or plastic forks?

I'm worried about the structural stability of my PB, and I don't want to be responsible for any unnatural disasters...
