Hey rockers and vintage lovers!

I completed my Easter Outfit! It's Simplicity 4044

As always my VINTAGE TRASH GLAM style has modified this lovely suit to my tastes hehe.

The Lipstick red is that "linen look" stuff. I dont think I want to work with THAT again..ugh..UNravel CITY! I would rather work with linen and be wrinkled I think. The black is regular linen.

The jacket is supposed to be lined, but I made a neck facing instead, it's a spring outfit and the material is already thick enough. I french seamed the CB and sides and then used bias tape around the edges of the neck facing. this material was a nightmare to edge finish. The French seams are a bit bulky with the thickness, but i was getting frustrated  Huh

CURVY GIRL ALERT! If you are pear shaped this pattern needed major modifications to fit! I chopped off 5 inches of the jacket length, added an inch in the back hip area, added 2 inches to the sleeves too. Also the back darts I let out quite a bit, and shortened to end at the hips.
For the skirt I added to the waist and hips, unfortch....too much. but it works with a top that I have to tuck in, such as my skully tank in the pics. I fixed it in the muslin now, and I am 75 percent done with a MATCHING red skirt for this!

also check out my kickazz bowling pins necklace i made this week! KEY-OOTS!

WHAT SAY YOUS?Huh
this is the pattern

note how her skirt drapes...THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN IN THE PLUS SIZE VERSION! my skirt will fold at the center front only. her folds all purty int he middle of the two panels, see? Nu uh...it don't happen in plus size. It DOES happen in the back though.

Very flirty. Your curves make this skirt look good. I see none of the issues you do but one is always more critical of themselves and their work. Love that candy apple red color and those shoes are like icing on the cake!

I really love looking at your posts....I have to say that I shamelessly copy your style as often as I can. I'm usually pretty timid about fashion, but you're giving me great ideas  Shocked Grin  brilliant work yet again

As always, you are just adorable. I absolutely love it- I can't wait to see the red skirt in action too! And I agree, your shoes are darling.
I've looked at that pattern a couple of times and thought that it wouldn't look like that on me. That seems like a ridiculous amount of alterations, but the finished piece is pretty sweet.

i agree it was ridiculous! LOL but it's like that with patterns and me...my body has decided to deviate REALLY FAR from the fashion designers dream so i have to "make it work" as Tim says! In the end it is worth it to rock my own stuff. I may still bitch about it tho  Tongue

Super modern looking with a retro twist... love it!  It's also great to know about the alterations - something I hate messing around with, but usually end up having to do anyway with fitted things  Smiley

You look absolutely lovely in this outfit. I had a look at that pattern a while ago but wasn't sure if I should go for it. I know you had to alter it a lot but was is (once you got the fit right) straight forward to sew? Particularly the jacket I mean. I have stayed away from jackets for now.
I also love your fabric choice. Red and black... my kinda gal!

Yes! Red and black have turned into "my" colors along with lime green and bright purple!

It was kinda hard to sew the yoke onto the jacket bodice...that curved seam took ALOT of manipulation to do right. The muslin gave me practice but it was really a mess! The curve needs to be clipped...like basically mangled to get a stretch around that curve. and i never got the dots to line up, but they were consistent on each side so I let it be. LOL The rest was easy. That's the part I am most proud of on this piece!

Great idea to make facings instead of lining it. It will be much more comfortable to wear. All of your clothes are so cute, and I love the red sandals and polka dot sunglasses!

The outfit is awesome. You did a great job modifying that pattern.  I have a copy I should play around with it.

You did an excellent job with all of the adjustments. I am so glad someone pulled this back up because I have this pattern in my collection. I am like you I like to take pattern and change them just enough to make it my own.
