hey! i was idly thinking about knitting a shrug today but cabling across the arms where your lace pattern is, but i wasn't sure where on my arms/ back the cable would be.
you've solved my problem! it would sit where i thought it would. i was going to use the madknits Hug pattern (http://www.magknits.com/warm04/patterns/hug.htm)

but i might use yours instead... depends whose looks easier Smiley it's going to be my first ever cable-thing.

awww.  thanks!

lupinbunny, i tossed around the idea of a cable for a while but settled on the lace.  I would love to see how that turns out!

i revised/updated the pattern on my blog.  I realized when I got home that I had forgotten some key elements (dimensions, the ribbed edging,...  d'oh).

if you can't be a good example then you'll just have to be a horrible warning.

thanks, subloke, for making this and sharing the pattern.  i am making a shrug for another craftster in a one-on-one swap and i too was originally going to make hug from magknits, but we were having yarn issues (ha!) and after doing some poking around craftster i found your design and we both think it's very cute and exactly what my swap person wanted - you saved the day!

lupinbunny, i just wanted to mention that if you put a cable in the pattern instead of the lace it will change the fit a little, and you might have to adjust.  cables pull knitted fabric in and make it tighter, so it definitely won't have as much "give" as an open, lacey pattern.  they also eat more yarn.  but, they're also fun and look great!   Cheesy

Lovely!  The shrug looks great on you!

I'm adding this to my long, long, depressingly long list ofprojects I want to make.
