They are lined with Peva, which is a plastic material that is food safe, water proof, PVC-free, lead free, BPA free, non-chlorinated, and biodegradable.

i've used these for about 3 months now and never had a problem with food getting caught in velcro. They can be easily wiped out and cleaned or you can throw them in the washer!
