Hey polkadots, tell me more about that chocolate rum cake! Cheesy

Found the recipe here: http://www.randomhouse.com/crown/enewsletter/recipe/chocovanilla/ its the 2nd one down. Only I used a box cake ( triple chocolate fudge), substituted 1/2 cup of rum towards the 1 1/3cup of water the cake mix called for and followed the praline topping directions as listed. I must say it turned out very moist and tasty. Think its going to be a holiday staple from now on.

I'm finishing up my Christmas crafting bit by bit.  I've got one rag rug for my mother done and I'm going to finish the second one tonight hopefully.  Then I need to make slippers for my sister, which will only take an hour-ish, and a few little nerdy amis for my brother that won't take too long, either.  My fiance's afghan is pretty close to done.  It's getting down to the wire, so I guess I need to get off here and go crochet!   Tongue

Alright, here's what I ended up crafting:

Felted mittens for my mom
A hedgehog painting for my sister
a painted bowl for my fianc
pyjama pants for my brother
Caramel corn for a variety of people
Stockings!

My dad, my grandma, my sister's boyfriend, and my fianc's family are all getting purchased presents because I ran out of time.

This is my first time to post, am getting alot of inspiration from everyone.  I've already come up with several projects to make for Christmas 2011:
1. Water bottle carriers (with straps)
2. Mantle scarf
3. Machine embroidered floral wall hanging for gardening friend
4. Embroidered towels
5. Personalized buttonhole fleece scarf
6. Doll clothes
7. Machine embroidered Christmas vest
8. Garden flag
9. Windsock
10. Fleece dog coat

These are the ideas so far, things may change over time!

For 2011, I would like to make a Christmas apron for MIL, so she can get rid of her old A&P apron - I think it was DH's from over 20 years ago when he was a stockboy for them in his teens.

I would like to do some woodburned snowflake ornaments as "the ornament" for this year, and stain the balls blue.

Maybe some knit or crocheted dishcloths for a bunch of people

If my sewing gets good enough, maybe some purses or totes for the girls, and maybe a rag quilt for one neice, or for DH.

I would like to make a canvas wood carrier for DH.

I am going to make an organza peony wreath for myself, and I was wondering if that would be something MIL may like too.

I did not do jellies this year, but I will make them again next year.  I had a lot of hints for my hot pepper one.

Oh yes, I also will be making stockings for SILs doggies.

As a gag gift, I asked DH to find me an appropriate log, on on one side, I am going to woodburn the log song, for a friend.

http://nicktoons.nick.com/videos/clip/stimpys-big-day-log-song-1.html"The Log Song", from Ren & Stimpy
(similar to the slinky song)

"What rolls down stairs alone or in pairs
    Rolls over your neighbor's dog?
What's great for a snack and fits on your back?
    It's Log, Log, Log!

    It's Log, Log, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Log, Log, it's better than bad, it's good!
Everyone wants a log! You're gonna love it, Log!
Come on and get your log! Everyone needs a Log!"

Well I didn't get everything on my list done, but happy with what I achieved and nobody was left presentless.

Finished the last present midday Christmas Eve. A doorstop for my mum

Also found time to make gift bags instead of wrapping paper
