so here in germany the law is your reserve chute can not be repacked once its older than 15 or 20 yrs and dh's chute has hit its limit. the jump zone he goes to wanted to put it on display but dh being the amazing man he is brought it home to me so i could turn it into something. the only problem is i have no idea what to do with it. i saw this post http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=281443.0 a while back and thought it was just the coolest thing in the world.. but have decided against attempting it. since this was dh's very first rig (and since he waited and saved so long for it) i wanted to turn it into something he could use. like a woobie. (his military issue blanket made of nylon) im not really sure how big it is but when my little one was napping i got a quick look and took some pictures to post. any ideas of what i could possibly do with a 20 yr old reserve chute?? and how would i even go about cutting it up to reassemble?? its in wonderful shape., thankfully it never had to be deployed.. so dh was like a kid in a candy store when he got to deploy it.

I saw where an old chute was turned into dragon wings for a HUGE fake dragon. I don't think that's the sort of idea your looking for though. Maybe you could use it as the outside of a sleeping bag, if you camp.
