Hey everyone! I had an assignment a few weeks ago to do a "chiaroscuro still life". That was all the instruction we had, so I decided to combine my love of sewing into the piece as well as be ever so clever and have the subject matter double as the light source. Cheesy

I still want to go back into it and add a little bit of shadow under the foot, where it touches the fabric, but other than that I'm totally pleased with it. Any comments?

(sorry there's a bit of a glare, flash was the best way I could get it to focus!)

and just for fun, an in-progress shot!

Thanks for looking and all comments are appreciated!

Just in case anyone's not sure what chiaroscuro means: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiaroscuro

I just commented on your "Girl with a Pearl Earring" and I see your pop art breakfast below... I love all three of these! I wish I had HALF your talent! I can't stop looking at the details in all of them.

I also checked out your breakfast pop art.  You are on a roll.  This is great.  So much detail.  Nice work.

That's a beautiful painting and I love the subject matter - there aren't enough paintings of sewing machines  Smiley

Fabulous!

The only piece of (constructive) criticism I have is that I feel like the perspective is a tad off. I can't quite put my finger on it, though.

Keep up the good work!
