Back in the '80s, I had a Lady Lovely Locks doll, which is shown on this page:


As you can see, many of these dolls have an opalescent sheen to the fabric of their skirts. 

I've also seen this same multi-colored sheen on Wings of Isis.


It's a much more dramatic effect than most iridescent organza, which is "shot" (woven with threads of one color in one direction, and a different color in a different direction). 

What is this fabric called and where can I find it?  Thank you!

Never mind.  I found it. Smiley

After searching, and searching on the internet without success, I walked into JoAnn (a mere 1.25-hour drive away) with the tiny scrap I had and said, "Do you have this?" 

She pointed me to the lam aisle, where I found "pearlized sheer" in a variety of colors, in both crinkle and flat versions.  Whoop!
