This is great. I'm so impressed, I love tops like this, I'd love to make one.
You said that you got the idea after a previous project. (a dress form a pillow case?) Was this a tute? I'd love to learn how to do the gathering elastic thing at the top. Any links / advice you could provide would be great.

Thank You so much! Here is a link with the other project I did :

It has links to some tutorials I looked at.

Okay so once again I am completely redoing my pictures. Got tired of photobucket, the only reason I used it was for here so I decided I will just use Craftster's photo uploader. So while I am switching over my photo links will be broken. Message me if there is a post you would like the pics for.

Thank you! No it's really easy, if you can sew a relatively straight line you can do this. All you do is hand wind elastic thread onto your bobbin holding slightly taught but not too much and not too little. Then use regular thread on the top and sew like you normally would. You want the pull the fabric flat as you sew the elastic and it will gather on it's own. I used my sewing foot as the measurement between each row. Do enough rows to cover your bust, as much as you think works. And straps and your done. Oh and when you cut the shirt you'll want to hem the top start your elastic right under the hem. I didn't sew where the buttons are because it wouldn't have gathered anyways and that's the look I wanted. Oh and after I cut the top of the shirt off I used my seam ripper and removed the breast pocket. Next time I think I am going to use the elastic and shirr the straps also. If I can find another shirt soon I can do a tut possibly.

Thank You very much! Smiley I just washed it and was worried that it would possible shrink even though the shirt has been washed several times before and it didn't! Looked like it at first the elastic shrinks a bit but it's all the same, It's so comfy Smiley
