I got this pattern for a baby's ripple afghan off of the lionbrand.com site.
A lot of people gave it a low rating because they couldn't get it to lie flat.
Those silly people, all they had to do was put it through a gentle wash & hang dry.
I altered the colors equence so that the middle stripe [the blue] was doubled & the stripes mirrored themselves.
I've always been too impatient to finish a blanket but I have a nephew coming in a few months & I was really eager to finish one ASAP.

I'm sure he'll love it, the colors are just beautiful.
I'm in the same boat *kind of* my nephew will be born in 2 weeks.
So I've been making him things left and right.

I really like your choice of colors.
And you're right... never underestimate the power of blocking or just a simple wash and dry.

great job~! its beautiful! was it worked in the back loops only ? because sometimes that is the problem for getting them to lie flat, and that works itself out once the piece relaxes a little or , as you did, you wash it:) Ive got a little nephew or neice on the way, i just found out a few days ago. Im so excited as it will be my first!

no, it was through both loops, I believe it's the decrease of 6 stitches that makes it not lie flat at first.

You're welcome, it's so easy to do. You'll be half way through it before you know it.

Thanks! I guess the site should have made a note about blocking or gentle wash for new crocheters
