I must be out of my mind, I decided to make pretzel rolls from scratch after work last night!  They took over two hours total, but the results were amazing Cheesy

I used this recipe, be warned, hers look WAY better than mine hehe.  It was really hard to get the soft dough into the simmering water without it looking all bumpy and wonky:

http://stresscake.wordpress.com/2010/03/21/one-of-my-favorite-things-pretzel-rolls/

I ate one straight out of the oven with Sweet Hot Mister Mustard (No substitute:  https://hannaford.elsstore.com/brandstores/200-woeber-mustard/categories/4151-mister-mustard/products/24782-mister-mustard-sweet-hot-mustard, and served teh rest topped with Chicken Salad for dinner.  My chicken salad recipe isn't anything special but I'll post it anyway, it was pretty good.

Chicken Salad

4 chicken drumsticks
One onion, sliced
1 cup mayo
1/2 cup Marzetti Slaw Dressing
1-2 Tablespoons Sweet Hot Mister Mustard (no substitute!  Ok, substitute, but it won't be as good hehe)
3 hard boiled eggs, cooled
1 teaspoon dried dill
half a red pepper, diced
Salt, Pepper, and Onion powder to taste

Slice the onion, skin and all, and put it in a stock pot.  Add the drumsticks, salt and pepper, and bring to a boil.  Simmer until the chicken is cooked, remove the chicken from the pot, and allow to cool.  Mix the mayo, slaw dressing, mustard, hard boiled eggs, dill, onion powder, and salt/pepper together until smooth (you want the eggs to break up a little).  Remove the skin from the chicken and take the meat off the bone.  Stir chicken and red pepper into the dressing and allow to sit for at least an hour (over night is way better).  Top your sandwich with anything you like:  Pickle, onion, fresh tomato, etc.

Yum!

Oh my gosh, we love the pretzel bread sandwiches at the Corner Bakery, especially my husband, and I've been imagining a way to make sandwich rolls based on a soft pretzel recipe. Those look wonderful, thanks for the post!

I was just thinking the same thing hehe Wink  It's been a few weeks, I'm starting to jonze Smiley

I think this time, I'm going to let them rise on little squares of parchment, and I can use the parchment to pick them up (for a more uniform/round look after boiling).
