I think it's a huge improvement over the original pattern.  Since it is your wedding dress though, I'd consider doing two things:
1.  The side seam in the first pic looks like it's puckering.  You might want to think about resewing that, so it's less noticable. 
2.  With wide necklines, sometimes the top edge gaps a little.  My favorite fix is to take a small dart or pleat in the center front, and cover it with a ribbon rose.  It's just one of those things that bothers me on my own clothing, but if you like it as is, leave it.
Otherwise, it looks fantastic, and is far more flattering than the pattern.

You did a fantastic job altering the dress!  It looks so flattering; much more so than the original pattern.  As a fellow lady with a big rear, I can assuredly say this rocks and makes the most of your assets.    I love it.

I noticed the puckering too but I wasn't sure what to do about it. I think I'll try resewing it. Thanks for the advice.

It didn't look like the rest of the seams were puckered, so you probably just need to pull the fabric tight while you sew it.  If the rest of the seams were puckered, I'd recommend a small ball point needle (if it's polyester) and a narrow zig zag stitch.

 I really think the dress looks good with the top half both ways. You did a good job and I love the material.
