While I feel a bit like a poseur posting in the 'art' section, it seemed the best place to showcase my egg-babies.

Pysanky, for those who don't know, is the Ukrainian art of decorating eggs.  It's a process a lot like Batik, involving alternating layers of dye and wax.

While I love the traditional designs, I also like looking for inspiration in other places, like quilting.  Here are a few of my pysanka from over the years:

For more info, and more pictures, you can visit my blog:  http://canuckcraft.blogspot.com/2010/03/tis-time-for-eggs.html

Thanks for looking and happy egg-decorating!

Gah, I love those. I've always wanted to learn pysanky. That dark one at the top of the bowl is fantastic.

I do believe these are ART! How pretty and detailed little eggs. Looks like frustration at one wrong move could be a factor. I doubt there is enough patience in my body and soul to execute an awesome round art piece such as this!

Such patience!  I've tried this artform but did not have the steady hand and especially the patience to get any good at it!

Beautiful.

Very nice, though I'm more of a Faberg girl myself. These are nice. I know what kind of a steady hand you need for that too..... Cheesy

I always thought these were art! Steady hand...I can't believe you did an entire bowl of them! I would have been running around showing the world and patting myself on the back had I made it through one! Amazing work here! Cheesy
