I've never done glass etching before, and I read the you can use fabric paint to make negative space so that's what I did, just regular acrylic fabric paint, but looking around now I'm afraid that I was supposed to use puffy paint.  My image was really detailed and I don't want to put the etching cream on until I'm sure that it will keep my design intact.  If I go over it a second time with the Scribbles paint, will that be enough to protect it while the etching cream is on?

fabric paint is good for  glass etching. You will be painting on the smooth surface of the glass behind the etched design. Painting directly on the etched surface could remove the frosted look of the etching. Adding translucent colour behind the design allows the etching to remain intact while the colour shows through.
