I want to experiment with adding verdigris patina to my brass items and I've been stumped trying to find regular clear ammonia in grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware stores, and department stores. The closest I've found is lemon scented which I don't think I can use. Most places I went to didn't even know what ammonia was!

Do you speak french?  Ammonia in french has a "k" sound at the end, "ammoniak" maybe that will help the clerks know what it is.  I'm pretty sure I've seen ammonia at my local Canadian Tire store... I'll keep an eye out.
