Being completly infatuated with Japan and at the moment crochet, I decided to make this Sakura drawstring pouch.

It has an extra sturdy bottom, made by two flat circles with a piece of felt in between and lot's of double crochets.

It's like you read my mind!
I stood infront of the yarn in Micheal's today looking for just the right pink for cherry blossom, and I am making a makeup bag for my son's girlfriend Smiley

This is lovely, really lovely.
I'd have been nervous of the dark dark tree trunk, but it all works.

How did you make the flowers?  They look quite small, I've not been able to make flowers that small, are they all directly into a magic ring?

Really nice Smiley  Well done you, and thanks for sharing.

That is so cool; I really love the design.
And the fact that the bottom is the color of the branch; that detail makes me happy in my heart <3

Thanks for all the lovely comments!

I made the flowers bij chaining 6 and joining at the end. Then I did a dc, ch1, dc and a slst. Make sure that the beginning tail is wrapped in with that. That makes one petal. Repeat another 4 times for 5 petals and fasten of.

I hope this makes any sense Tongue

Beautiful! My best friend loves all things Japanese, and she just recently volunteered to be the victim of my crafty gifting habits. I might just totally steal this idea from you. Totally brilliant.

Thank you all so much for those nice comments!

I was trying to make one for all seasons. But first I'm going to make about ten of these babies, so I can sell them on a local fair.

But when I get to the summer one, which will probably after the third one I make Tongue
I will post it here ASAP.

This awesome! Do you have any tips on the actual bag part itself? I'm trying to make something similar as a lunch-bag  but I'm having no luck pattern wise. I've tried to find a pattern but yours is the only one that has the Japanese/anime feel to it that I'm looking for! XD Any chance for a pattern(for the bag part not the flowers)?  Grin

Here is the pattern for the pouch. It is my first pattern though, so if something is not very clear or wrong please tell me that.

Bottom
Ch 2
Row 1
10 dc in 2nd chain from the hook. Join with slst.
Row 2
Ch 2. 2 dc in every dc. Join with slst.
Row 3
Ch 2. 2 dc in every other dc. Join with slst.
Row 4
Ch 2. 1 dc, 1dc, 2 dcs and repeat till you have 40 stitches. Join with a slipstitch and leave a tail.
Make another circle, so you will have two. Cut out a circle of felt, slightly smaller than the circles you just made.

Pouch

Row 5
Connect the two circles with the felt circle sandwiched in between, with a row of single crochets. Do not join, but ch 1.
Row 6
Dc in every sc. Do not join.

Row 7 till 12
Dc in every dc
Row 13
3 dc, 1 dc2tog, repeat until end row. Do not join.
Row 14
Dc all around, make the last stitch of the row a sc and join the row with a slst.
Row 15
Ch 3. Treble in every stitch of last row. Join with slst
Row 16 and 17
Ch 2. Dc in every stitch. Join at end of row with slst.
After row 17 fasten of and weave in the tail.
