I wanted some fun new flip flops for vacation but was getting grief from the hubz because I already have a basket full of them. (They just don't get it.) So I improvised:

Fabulous!

Not so fabulous cast offs from someone else that I claimed but never wore because they were pretty ho-hum.

Supplies:
-Craft Glue - I don't know if this is the best glue for the job but its what I had on hand
-sponge brush
-lighter
-clips or clothespins
-scissors
-enough ribbon to cover the straps

Cut the ribbon to the angle  and length to fit the area you want to cover.

Melt the edge of the ribbon to prevent fraying. To do this hold up your lighter and move the ribbon close to the flame. You don't have to get it in the flame for it to get hot enough to melt.
This is a terrible photo but here ya go:

Apply a thick coat of glue with your sponge brush. Apply only to one area at a time. This will prevent the glue from drying out too fast before you get the ribbon applied.

Apply ribbon beginning at the center and smoothing out to the end. Place clips at top and bottom to keep in place while drying.

Now you have a snazzy pair of flip flops!
