Craftsters, meet Doris

Doris is my dress-form. I know, she's a bit short in the body but she will be extended when I get some more tape.

She was made with 4 JD and cokes (2 for me, 2 for the long suffering husband) much hilarity, an old and cheap t shirt, 3 rolls of industrial hazard tape and a black trash-bag. I wore the trash bag, the husband covered me in the tape while wearing my favorite bra (lol, i was wearing the bra, not him hahaha!), cut me out of the tape and bag and then cut a base-plate for me from some cheap MDF we had lying about. while he was cutting the baseplate, I was stuffing Doris with copies of the Basildon and Wickford recorder, Basildon Yellow Advertiser, pizza menus, torn towels and wool-off-cuts.

I love her. she's sat on a speaker box in this shot because it makes her very nearly the same height as me. which is to say, not very tall.

the pins in Doris, she was used a couple of days ago.
the mess in my craft room. I share my craft room with all the stuff we don't have space for in the rest of the house.
the t shirt, like I said. it was cheap. £1 from primark. that's US$1.50, ¥137, €1.11 etc.....
the tape... again, I used what I had.

Hey don't knock the tape it's a great idea. At leas it doesn't look identical to a thousand other dressforms. And you couldn't lose that thing even if it were in MY craft room (probably worse then yours). Nice job.

I love the tape!  I think someone should design a fabric that looks like that, so I can make a dress out of it!  Nice job; my hubby helped me make a dressform once, but then it got sat on.  Just keep it on top of the speaker so Doris lasts longer than mine did!

Good job, the hazard tape might've worked better then duct tape too :/.

I think we need a topic dedicated to showing off our dress models, even though I've outgrown mine .
